We know how deeply our community loves this production. Every year, we hear from many people who want to attend, and it truly means everything to us that this show is so cherished. At the same time, we want to be transparent about why tickets are extremely limited and why, despite our best efforts, we simply cannot accommodate everyone who would like to attend.
This is a community talent production, and our dancers have each invested hundreds of hours rehearsing, creating, and showing up for this work. It is incredibly important to us that each dancer has the opportunity to invite their loved ones to see them perform. To support this, each dancer is given access to purchase two tickets per performance for their family and friends.
The best way to ensure access to tickets is to become a Move the Butte Sponsor at the $500 or $1000 level.
Sponsorship donations directly support our nonprofit programming and are tax deductable. Sponsorship benefits include VIP tickets and marketing visibility with our 1,400 local audience members.

Theater capacity:
Approximately 355 seats per performance
Number of performances:
4 shows
Participants involved:
Approximately 140 dancers
140 dancers × 2 tickets each = 280 tickets reserved for dancers to purchase first for theiloved ones
Seats remaining after dancer tickets:
355 total seats − 280 dancer purchase tickets = 75 seats per performance
From those remaining seats, we must also accommodate:
10 volunteer staff tickets (essential production staff working each performance)
20-50 possible sponsor tickets (supporters whose financial contributions make this production possible)
While the numbers above reflect our maximum allocations, the reality is that not all dancers choose to purchase their full ticket allotment for every show, and sponsors do not always use all of their tickets each night. Because of this, a limited number of tickets typically become available for public sale for each performance. While availability varies by night, there will be opportunities for community members to attend. We are committed to offering these tickets in a fair and transparent way to our community.
We understand the common questions and suggestions, and we want to address them directly:
Why not move to a larger venue?
We have explored options with larger seating capacity in Gunnison. However, we have consistently heard that many Crested Butte community members would not attend if the show were moved out of town. Staying in CB allows us to best serve our audience and participants.
Why not add more than four shows?
All of the dancers, choreographers, and staff are community members with full-time jobs, families, and other commitments. Producing four shows is already a significant physical and logistical undertaking. Adding additional performances would not be sustainable and would risk burnout for the very people who make this production possible. At this time, four shows is our absolute maximum capacity.
Please be courteous to our neighbors by parking a leisurely four-minute walk away at either the 4-Way Stop (6th Street and Elk Avenue) or at the Crested Butte Community School (8th Street and Red Lady Avenue).
The Center requests that guests refrain from parking on Seventh Street and the adjacent neighborhood for this large-scale event due to the volume of vehicles expected.
Due to construction on Academy Place, the parking lot at 6th Street and Whiterock is currently closed.
Please do not park in the driveway parallel to 6th Sixth Street on the west side of the Center; this is a fire lane and is for pick-up/drop-off and loading only. Please do not park at Ace Hardware or in the Majestic Plaza.
The Center parking lot should be reserved for handicapped parking or those with limited mobility.
